I am a vocalist, song writer, composer, arranger and educator (and graphic designer), based in Melbourne, Australia. I sing jazz, and "other". This page is how I am putting bits and pieces out into the world.
In 2010 I was a finalist in the Voicingers International Jazz Vocal Competition. This is a live recording from the semi-finals — an original composition called Flaw of The Butterfly. It one of a 2-part suite, written in response to Benjamin Britten's “For The Flowers Are Great Blessings”, from Rejoice in the Lamb.
The band is Sebastian Frankiewicz on drums, Michał Tokaj on piano, and Michał Jaros on double bass.
My first foray into home recording.
I am a vocal arranger for contemporary folk artist Bayden Hine, aka Packwood. Packwood has just released the entirety of Vertumnus, a mammoth work years in the making, comprising four EP length seasonal explorations. I'm so happy that this work is out in the world. Everyone should hear these amazing image-driven lyrical works and the epic and intricate orchestral/instrumental arranging of Tilman Robinson. This recording is an excerpt from one track on Autumnal, the first release.
This is an original of mine that I may record properly at some point in the future.
I am a member of swing outfit The Furbelows. Here we are at the Queen Victoria Market in June this year, having a blast on a freezing winter night.
An excerpt from Luminesce, an audiovisual collaboration between Gian Slater and video artist Robert Jarvis that uses voices as triggers for lighting events. I feature in this duet alongside Hannah Cameron.
In my work as a voice teacher, I work with a lot of vocal ensembles. Sometimes it is hard to find suitable material, especially for treble groups, and extra-especially jazz arrangements. Here are a couple I've written. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in purchasing an arrangement.
Medium/up tempo cuban feel. For SSAA jazz choir.
